Spotted in Saigon…

Sights like these were common in Cambodia, but I haven’t seen too many overloaded cyclos or makeshift vehicles joining the motorbiking masses on Saigon’s heaving streets. I saw this guy while walking through District 3 and couldn’t resist taking a pic – he waved just at the right moment!

when you say that they are common sights, how common is that? Once a week – or, literally, an every day type of thing?

In Cambodia – pretty much daily you’d see something similar!! My favourite crazy sight in Phnom Penh’s traffic though were Sambo the elephant on his daily walk and the oxcarts from Kampong Cham province loaded up with pottery wares.

…or containers with pigs in them, strapped to the back of a moto, or a moto packed with 5 or 6 people.

Yes another favourite game – spot the most no. of people on one moto – the most I ever saw was 7!! (ok a few of them were babies but still…)
