👯‍♀️ Duo costume ideas for Book Week! 👯‍♀️

Some kids prefer going with a friend in their Book Week parade (and it's fun!) so here are some twosome costume ideas from my picture books! And they're low-stress with random things you might already have (which has always been my strategy!):

🐙 From Everyone Wants an Octopus Book! ~ dress as Inky the octopus: lilac clothes, hot pink beret (or any hat). For BFF Quack the duck: white clothes, yellow bandana. Bonus if you can muster it up, a cardboard beak!

🐶 From Walking Your Human ~ any dog and human pair (lots to choose from!). This zany lady has a fun outfit for inspo. One friend could be a dog and lead their human around the parade!

🐞 From Tulip and Brutus ~ dress as Brutus the stinkbug in red clothes with blue splotches, or Tulip the ladybug in red with black spots. Add some antennae. Yay!

There are so many easy costume ideas where you can rustle up stuff from the cupboard and dress-ups, no need for expensive shopping trips or midnight sew-athons, unless that's your thing of course! Happy Book Week and costume sorting!

✿ A picture book from Japan ✿ On our trip to ✿ A picture book from Japan ✿

On our trip to Tokyo last year, we stumbled upon the most atmospheric bookshop while exploring the neighbourhood of Kurumae. Think a mix of vintage, foreign and Japanese picture books in one cute and small shop, with illustration exhibitions on the walls! ☆

I had to find the perfect Japanese picture book to take home. Enter: Come to Our Town, by Yosuke Omomo. A few pics of this adorable tale of a town run by animals - in love with these illustrations, the colours, style, cuteness and imaginary scenarios! Also a few pics of the bookshop inside and out, which was a dream find in a favourite area of Tokyo. ☆

I feature this PB in my most recent Substack newsletter, Lemongrass Letters. Link in bio if you'd like to subscribe (all-age books, travel, food and other assorted rambles!). ☆
