Writing competitions are a wonderful way to receive feedback on your stories to help improve them. Here are some competition results since I entered the world of writing for kids. I am a huge fan of each of the organisations behind these comps for all they do to encourage new writers and spread the kids’ book love:

  • 2nd place (and another entry in the top 10) – picture book (preschool category), CYA Competition 2018
  • Longlisted – Just Write for Kids ‘Pitch It’ competition 2018
  • 1st place – chapter book/junior fiction category, Greenleaf Press 2018
  • 1st place (and another entry longlisted) – picture book manuscript competition, Greenleaf Press 2017
  • 2nd and 3rd place – picture book manuscript competition, Writers’ Unleashed Festival 2017
  • 3 picture books placed in the top 10, CYA Competition 2017
  • 3rd place – picture book (non-fiction category), CYA Competition 2016
  • 1st place – junior fiction ‘first page’ competition, Buzz Words 2016
  • Special Mention Award – unpublished picture book competition, Kids’ Book Review 2015
  • 5th place – short story e-book anthology competition, Creative Kids’ Tales 2014
